In my old sideshows representations the wood engravings are based on paintings of animal and landscape painter Paul Meyer Heim (1842-1915). Some of them are inserted in the Menagerie chapter of http://www.schaubuden.de/ . Meyer's home pictures of the inside of "animal stalls" are unique products that convey a realistic impression of the event and the modest interior behind the facades of large menagerie promising to small dogs and monkeys theater.

I am particularly fascinated by a recently acquired cast that another show booths genre is about. The "display of wild Indians" shows the interior of a typical shack in the verm eintlich perform "Wild unbridled" wild, ritual dances.
